Oh, such a great line. That whole album is full of great, raw emotion with lyrics that usually encapsulate it impeccably.

Not my favourite, but I've always liked the familiar impossible longing of:

"In a world of steel-eyed death and men who are fighting to be warm; come in, she said, I'll give you shelter from the storm." - Shelter from the Storm, Bob Dylan.

When I think of Bob Dylan in terms of lyrics, that's what pops to mind:

Oh god said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
- Highway 61 Revisited, Bob Dylan

It's not what we usually hear.

It's hard for me to think of Bob Dylan in any other terms but lyrics.

Other than possibly how it portrays that Biblical characters were real people with actual feelings, I don't understand your fascination with that lyric. Sorry.

When you see how absurd it is that God asked Abraham to kill his a son as some kind of favor, when this guy have been praying to God for more than a 100 years (and I'm not exaggerating here) for a son.

I guess those lyrics express exactly that absurdity. And this lightness in the dialogue, like they're two buddies talking, great!

I do agree with the last thing you said. It's funny in its realism. Bob Dylan's actually my favourite artist. Hmm, according to Last.fm we've similar taste.
