London Calling – Clash
Never Mind The Bollocks – Pistols
Some Girls – Rolling Stones
Doolittle - Pixies
The Head on the Door - The Cure

Siamese Dream-Smashing Pumpkins
Badmotorfinger- Soundgarden

Highway to Hell AC/DC
Dookie – Green Day
The Cars - The Cars
Pisces Iscariot-Smashing Pumpkins

Could I argue that this is essentially a "what are your top 15 records of all time" list?

And I'll add that it sounds like you're about my age.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

well no not really. Ok well kinda. But I think Id start out with a good mix ..just not my favorites, give you a better starting point. More like a personal essentials list..

I'm 38..you?

I would cry my little girly eyes out and not be able to start again really, a lot of my LPs have good memories attached to them, not just what's on it but how I came to have them.

For example, when I was 14 I was skipping school with a girl who'd only been friends for only a couple of days, and we stopped into the little record store in town, and come to find my favorite record is in, Sandinista!, of course. I've never seen Sandinista! vinyl in this city and it was in great condition, but I had no money and knew it would be gone if I didn't get it that day. So, my friend tells me that she'll put half down on it so I wouldn't lose the chance to have it. It was one of the kindest things anyone had done for me, because she could tell how much it meant to me.

That's a great story. My Mum used to work at a paint store and money was tight. Every payday she would call from work and ask me what record I wanted from Sam the Record Man. I didn't matter if it was Big Balls from ACDC she would pick it up.

She let me develop my taste not guide it. Perfect.

these are excellent choices.

as for me...if this were to really happen i would probably continue searching for new stuff and just pick up the albums that got stolen as i felt like listening to them.

but, if i did have to pick 15

smashing pumpkins - siamese draem
boards of canada - the campfire headphase
the cure - disintegration
elliot smith - either/or
the flaming lips - yoshimi battles the pink robots
the mars volta - deloused in the comatorium
mew - and the glass handed kites
my bloody valentine - loveless
radiohead - hail to the thief
rush - permanent waves
thievery corporation - the cosmic game
yo la tengo - i can hear the heart beating as one
allman brothers band - live at filmore east
king crimson - red
genesis - foxtrot

chosen with both variety and essential-ness in mind. not necessarily my top 15 of all time.
