This makes sense...getting a good variety to get started with. I'm 33.

Yeah I feel the same way. I've invested so much time and money into my physical collection, that if it got stolen I'd cry a few rivers and be slightly relieved to be free of something that essentially owns me. Plus these days I download more than I buy, and when I buy I've already heard the album most times so I just throw it on the shelf. I would just take the opportunity to move on.

This make sense too. I may not re-purchase anything I already owned unless it meets the following criteria: Awesome music & excellent artwork or packaging.

Lots of great stuff posted so far. Perhaps I'll work up a list soon.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

ALRIGHT '76 hahaha

this exact situation happened to my roommate about 10 years ago. the physical replacements for his collection have been very few and very far between since. can't say i really blame him though.

Just like duga said, I'd just get them as I became in the mood. I know it wouldn't be very long before I reacquired these though.

Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures
The Unicorns - Who Will Cut Our Hair When We're Gone?
A Name Unheard - S/T
The Cure - 17 Seconds
Dinosaur Jr. - You're Living All Over Me
Death From Above 1979 - Heads Up
Attack in Black - Marriage
Fugazi - Repeater
Lightning Bolt - Hypermagic Mountain
Eric's Trip - Forever Again
The Locust - New Erections
Lullabye Arkestra - Ampgrave
Wintersleep - Untitled
Andrew Jackson Jihad - Only God Can Judge Me
Minutemen - Double Nickles on the Dime

Partially due to their greatness and my desires for the moment. Also not including stuff I don't physically own.

I couldn't even decide which 15 Fall albums i'd want to keep, let alone every other band too.

You're kidding.

It's those beats, man. Those beats are sick. Excursions samples Art Blakey, Jazz (We've Got) samples Freddy Hubbard's Red Clay, and coolest of all, Scenario samples Davis' "So What", the Ohio Players, Kool & The Gang (TWICE) and Jimi Hendrix.

This might not mean much to you, but that is revolutionary.

Not to mention, Tip's lyrics are some of the best of the genre. Audacious and thought provoking, yet restrained.

Code:
Planted on the ground, the act is so together
Bonafied strong, you need leverage to sever
The unit, yes, the unit, yes, the unit called the jazz is
Deliberatley cheered lp filled with streeet goods
You can find it on the rack in your record store (store)
If you get the record, then your thoughts are adored
And appreciated, cause were ever so glad we made it
