What Do You Think Of All These Revival Movements?

like post-punk revival, garage rock revivial, etc.

To me it proves there is barely any originality left in music today. Bands are looking to the past instead of looking to the future. Regurgitating old concepts and ideas that have been done, and done better back when they were created.

Revivals have, in some way or form, been around for a long long time.
Modal Jazz like Miles Davis compositionally was a revival of the modal music of the renaissance, which itself was a period of revival.

music moves in cycles...this stuff will always happen. as long as there are still bands that are innovating, i don't mind. sometimes it is fun to hear a modern take on older genres of music.

Yeah pretty much this. Plus, it's really inevitable. Every generation discovers music, gets influenced by music and wants to make their own music. Some come out with something new, some prefer to emulate a style. And as long as there are always people coming up with something original, it doesn't bother me either. I can see it sucking in the mainstream, if that's all the big labels pay attention to, then the masses think that's all there is. But there's always more and better beneath the surface so I'm not worried.

Right because, as everybody knows, there was once a mystical time when artists were not influenced and inspired by the people who came before them and instead plucked fully formed, completely original ideas from moonbeams.
