Not to nitpick though. If TMV doesn't get in I can understand completely.

Mars Volta have taken a traditional 70's Prog rock/ fusion template and made it heavier. No matter how good they are musically they are still a mish mash of many artists. The whole point of a HOF is to have artists that have broken the mould or who were one of the originals in the scene etc. Mars Volta are not that for me. I consider a band such as Kayo dot to be far more deserving but i know that they wouldn't get in so I don't worry about it

Is it really though? I mean, personally I would be considering things like how long they have been around, consistency rather than just standout albums etc but surely this Hall of Fame is Our Hall of Fame? Almost like an index of our favourite artists as a site that supposedly has members of all kinds of music tastes. You know, so we can have artists in our HOF that wouldnt ever get into a "real" one.

Beck? Out of potential people to say that Tom Waits has influenced that's a strange choice. What about Sparklehorse or Modest Mouse or Man Man? What about basically every quirky roots-based indie band of the past decade or so?
