I'm still sort of confused. Are we supposed to weigh our personal thoughts on the band with their importance in musical history, or are we just supposed to vote based on our own opinions? The "hall of fame" designation might be a bit misleading.

You should base it mainly on your own preference really, vote no on a band if you really don't like them unless you really think they're important enough to vote for them anyway.
These 2 are critically acclaimed and seen as very important in music history, but i'm thinking the next few will make it a more personal affair...

I would think that measuring up personal opinion with cultural significance would be the best way to approach this.

I mean I enjoy listening to Menswear but i'm not about to campaign for them to be included into a hall of fame , unless we're doing a hall of fame for 3rd rate Britpop bands.

On the other hand I would say someone like U2 has made a huge cultural significance , but I hate virtually everything they touch , so I wouldn't vote for them either.

21-7 Same score as Zeppelin.

What are the odds that a brigade of 16 **** rockers shows up overnight to vote the JD down?

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.
