So a lot of people vote against yes because they don't like them, fair enough. But people vote against Yes even though they love them just because they think they are not popular or important enough? Wtf? Isn't liking them all that matters? Thats what you've all been saying. I'm confused.

Admittingly I did vote against Elliott Smith even though I like him, I just don't consider him important enough, but now I'm not so sure by what criteria we should actually be voting on.
The criteria is completely subjective. It basically comes down to the premise of a hall of fame and your interpretation. It's anything but Black and White.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

I started in the beginning voting whether I thought they should be in the hall of fame or not, but since PMO said it is whether you like them or not I would have had to say no to everyone but the Beatles so far

Just do your own criteria for voting , it's hardly f*cking rocket science.

There are plenty of bands I like that I wouldn't put in a hall of fame.

Well yeah, Buckley is probably gonna be one of the next up and I honestly don't consider him all that important. And yet he'll probably get in.

Yes are a very polarizing figure in rock music, one of the most I'd say, they have a lot of haters, which I understand, people consider them the biggest representives of prog, which I don't think it's even arguble that it's the most controversial genre of rock music there is, and thus prog haters direct most of their hate towards Yes (and ELP), again I perfectly understand the dislike for them. But people here are calling them insigificant, and that's just crazy wrong.

I know very little about the 'history' of prog blah blah blah, but what makes Yes more important than Genesis or Jethro Tull?
