This is the MusicBanter Hall of Fame and inductions are meant to reflect the tastes of MB members.
Maybe if the people who vote no added a little effort as to why they voted no, then the comments might be less "fascistic". |

As far as voting "no," I have to pull out two quotes from Elvis Costello, because they summarize my feelings perfectly:
"I hate people like Led Zeppelin, not because they're total charlatans and thieves, but because it actually offends me...the whole crotch-thrusting element." "There are two kinds of rock and roll that are artistically bankrupt to me. One's the wimpy, "fuck me, I'm sensitive" Jackson Browne school of seduction, and the other is "Look at me, I've got a hairy chest and a big willy!" Led Zeppelin type." Apart from any idealistic offenses, I can't say that I enjoy their music. There are bands with poor ideas and no real merit (ELO comes to mind), but I enjoy some of their songs. I haven't heard a single Zep song that I even remotely enjoy listening to. I don't care for screechy vocals and guitar solos. The fact that their music represents a school of rock that I personally detest isn't the reason why I don't like them, but it doesn't help much either. I think the world would be better off if Stairway To Heaven was never played again, but hey, that's just me.

Still I could not relate less to your interpretation of Zeppelin's music and would guess you've never given a full album a listen, not that it would matter, but you sound like you're describing a whole other band then the one I listen to. |

John Bonham
Jimmy Page John Paul Jones Robert Plant Four pretty talented musicians who together created a signature sound that stood apart from any other band back in the 70's when they were the most famous band in the world. Their body of work is amazing as well, how many other bands put out so many great albums/songs that people still talk about 30+ years later? Truly deserving of the MB Hall of Fame, good choice JJJ. |

Your bias is so freaking ridiculous. You want to disqualify one of the best rock bands of all time because they have a riff thats vageuly similar to a part from another song from a band that wasn't even that damn good? Screw that.
If this is to be a serious hall of fame it should be all about the bands that have actually contributed something. Zeppelin should be in without a doubt, and if they get snubbed for some godawful Indie band thats had like 2 albums that nobody bought I swear to god I'm leaving this site. Seriously lets go by your logic here. So much for The Beatles. They most diffinetely shouldn't be added, har har. See what I did there? |

Today is the last day the poll is open, unless the votes change Zeppelin will advance and be voted on my the panel after we get enough Nominees.
Piss me Off...post another nominee if you have one, otherwise I'll get another one ready. Or let Jack do Floyd or Urban the Clash or something like that. Hell better yet you do one. |

How many spots do we have in this Hall of Fame, BTW?
Yes. Even though they aren't among my very favourite bands, they definitely deserve a place in the Hall simply because of the innovation and creativity expressed in their music. They broke many barriers and paved way for the future of heavy metal (even though that specific genre was just one of many that they ventured on). |

Good Idea, Why don't you post the queue at the head of the thread, so you don't get repeats. Y'know include the results of previous polls i.e "Led Zeppelin Yes by a margin of 18-6" etc. Also I think if you could change the thread title to include the band up for nomination it would garner some more attention. Just some suggestions, thanks for spearheading the initiative I'm certainly MB history books will look back on you fondly.
