I don't listen to much hair metal but if i was gonna put a hair metal band on i probably wouldnt even be paying any attention to the lyrics but i certainly wouldnt be using that criteria to judge them. And what about instrumental music? If lyrics are important to ANY song or to any band then instrumental bands would all just fall flat on their arse, wouldnt they? What about bands that dont write or sing in English, or a language you understand. I enjoy a fair bit of music where i literally have no idea what the lyrics are. They could be about anything. |

I love instrumetal rock/metal songs, they're actually my favorite kind of music, an all instrumental band would be amazing. Lyrics might have different meaning to different people. I for one don't judge based on lyrics, but it is interesting hearing what goes along with that guitar riff. |

Lyrics may not be pivotal to a hair metal band, but when it comes to artists like Tom Waits, Nick Cave, Dylan etc etc ... I find the lyrics to be an extremely important part of the music. There are many aspects to music of course, but when there are lyrics, if they're well-written and thought-provoking then it really adds to the song for me.

I'd like to nominate Yes again eventually since the proggie population has grown a bit since the last time.
But before that I'd nominate someone with a much more likely chance of getting in. This HOF is a total sausage fest, how about Joni Mitchell? |

I put a nomination for Massive Attack but it hasn't been appeared for a vote yet. I wonder if it got lost or something. I was suprised the somebody didn't nominate them a long time ago.
Joni Mitchell is a great nomination. She's written more great songs than just about any other female songwriter I can think of. |

You may want to send in your nominations via PM with a write-up. Im not sure if NSW was just taking a break from this or had run out of nominees but she did invite people to send them in, so get to work!
