Poll closed, I missed it.... but I'd have voted no... they just don't do anything for me, sure they had attitude to spare, some great riffs, but unfortunately mostly vacant and pretty terrible lyrics, and by the end of the second Use Your Own Illusion album, it felt like they'd run dry on material completely.

There were much better bands emerging at the height of their popularity anyways. They were a short lived and quickly superceded sensation...

I actually think they're a bit underrated in the lyric department to be honest.

And who gives a f*ck about lyrics in that kinda music anyway?

It's still a very important factor in the song. When you say "that music" it's a little to general.

Not really. Some bands just don't put much emphasis on the lyrical aspect, they simply add a narative to a song but unless the lyrics really dominate the song they can be avoided.

Most hard rock bands are just musicians, they're not poets. Now it can be argued that Axl did indeed take his lyrics very seriously, at least on later stuff. But I actually consider him a pretty decent lyricist. Yeah he did some pretty typical c0ck rock stuff but that's part of the job.

So you do care about the lyrics. I for one think lyrics in any song are pretty important, except screamo.

Not really no. I listen to music for music, if it's a great song musically then I don't really care if the lyrics aren't great or even if they're terrible, they could be about fisting for all I care.

It's different however if the primary focus of a song is the lyrics, then that can be a problem, but I'm never really attracted to something JUST for the lyrics.
