Honestly, I'm a little confused here as well. I'm guessing some are just opening the thread, seeing a band they don't know very well, listen to a vid of a genre that they don't enjoy much, and then click no. I suppose that's totally fair if you go by the rules of the OP though. The purpose here is only to compile a list based on MB users collective tastes. It still kinda stinks to not see more discussion about the merits, or maybe lack of, for such an amazing band.

I don't doubt that they're a big part of the math-rock genre but I never had more than a mild interest in them aside from the Irony is a Dead Scene ep which I love. I'm probably going to have to listen to their full lengths some more before I vote.

Good write up on The Dillinger Escape Plan Alfred. Although after hearing the four vids you provided, I feel confident enough in voting no on this one...sorry! I'm fairly certain this is a band I just couldn't get into, although I do have to say I like the third video well enough.

I voted no because TDEP just don't do much for me, they're ok but nothing special. On the positive side they've always had seriously good drummers such as Chris Pennie and Gil Sharone, haven't heard their new drummer yet though.

Anyways, I'm not expecting DEP to make the hall of fame, even for the simple reason that they're not the kind of band a lot of people can get into. But this should be interesting and I would love it if they did better than At The Drive-In. Thanks nonsubmissivewife.

My pleasure Alfred.
Right then...next nominee!! Nominated by Gavin B. Bob Marley and the Wailers Has Bob Marley never been nominated to the MB Hall of Fame? That's hard for me to believe so I'm going to nominate him because he is still the most internationally recognized musician 30 years beyond his death. Bob produced a body of music that has stood the test of time and his back catalog of albums are second only to the Beatles in international sales. He also brought reggae music to the 7 continents of the earth and the four corners of the globe. Bob composed music that significantly changed people's lives and the world we live in. He should have been one of the first nominees. Here are some of my favorite Marley videos on YouTube: Concrete Jungle-- In the video Peter Tosh is on the left with sunglasses on, Bob is in the middle and Bunny Wailer is to the right with the funny fez hat on his head. Coming In From the Cold One Drop--- This video is from Bob's last concert in 1980. It's amazing how much energy he had, even as he was months away from his death. Zimbabwe-- This is from his 1979 tour at Harvard Stadium... I was at that show and it was the best concert I've ever seen.

Not my favourite reggae artist by a long shot (more a fan of the work of his bandmates Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer to be honest), but Exodus is a great album, and the guy's a good icon for the genre. About time we saw some reggae in the HOF as well.
A yes from me then. |
