I have no problem with people voting no if they dont like an artist. The real problem with this thread is people voting no purely because they have never heard of an artist. If you're not in a position to vote, just don't vote.

Exactly! That's why we need this postcount limit thing. The majority of people who vote No for that reason seem to be one-post-wonders.

No, not a post count limit, cos some people with high post counts still do it.

I don't think any 'no' vote should be counted if it doesnt have an explanation and that doesn't have to be any more eloquent than 'i think they're sh*t' as that is a valid reason.

Same would have to go with Yes votes so as not to be biased. But I don't think there is a way to enforce something like that without constant thread monitoring. Could be wrong though.

And how anyone in their right state of mind could declare Oasis the winners.
It went on for so long because Blur wanted to sell records & Steve Sutherland wanted to sell the NME. They instigated the whole thing. Oasis just saw it as one big laugh.

It's very telling now that when asked about that time Noel Gallagher laughs about it & Damon Albarn refuses to even discuss it.

And why would anyone be on Oasis's side?

How about because What's The Story Morning Glory was a far far superior album than that shitfest The Great Escape.

Why in the hell should a british band that is quite successful in their own country give two sh*ts about being successful in America? A lot of big british bands aren't big over here, seriously, what are you saying? that it only counts if a band is successful in American, isn't completely changing the music scene of one country freaking good enough?

And to be successful in America, how much of an achievement is that really? What have they achieved in America that was in anyway positive? Well lets see, Oasis are now logjammed in adult contemporary radio where they will forever remain, playing alongside Hootie & The Blowfish and Savage Garden, congratulations Noel.

I just did, of the people who posted 2 Americans said they voted no (anticipation & Zombie Fetish) And one half Brit did (Me).

And mine had nothing to do with where they were from.

I haven't heard The Great Escape yet but I highly doubt it could possibly be worse than Morning Glory (I can't really think of anything that is) and I usually disagree with you about everything.

I need to check that album out.

And thanks for explaining it for me.

It's not a great as the Parklife but it's far from awful.

If it's a concept album, there's a 100% chance Urban will hate it.
