Can some one clue me in?
Alright, I'm sure plenty have heard this song. Here's my question, at about the 0:45 or 1:30, when the "ba-da-bap-pada" kicks in, obviously the drumming changes, but I no longer count it in common time. If I try, it's late and weird and doesn't really fit. It really SEEMS like they go from common time (which is also 8/8), to 7/8 time. When I count by 7's at the same rate I was counting to 8 before said part, it fits. You would think that'd be enough to convince me that it's a time signature change. Here's the thing though, The Fratellis never struck me as a sophisticated enough band to do something like a time signature change, and I would sooner doubt my own calculations than think they did a time signature change. So can someone give me their opinion of what's happening there?

No you're quite right, and I don't think the Fratellis are particularly unsophisticated, Some bands just prefer to write what sounds good to them rather than try to be complicated most of the time. Or maybe they've done it accidently though I doubt it. However it's definately a time change from 8/8 to 7/8 none the less. Counts right to me.
