You sound like Bulldog, he was a massive David Bowie fan. I wonder how he's getting on .

Really? I can't say I've had any problem with it.

the songs sound like they were meant to be sung by Jeff, not ONJ

i have no problems with songs written especially for her to sing

i like stuff like "Hopelessly Devoted to You" and "Physical"

So HTD. As someone who really doesn't like much of any Bowie, what would you say is his best work? And what shows off the punk influence he apparently had on everyone and their mother? (hey-oh!)

i like Station to Station the best, with Ziggy Stardust a close second

i don't think there was ever any punk element in his music, i think you're confusing him with Iggy Pop, whom he produced

there were some punkish elements in Tin Machine (his supergroup) but this came after the onset of first wave punk

The way ONJs voice can reach up to the higher pitch represents the striving to reach that mythical place of Xanadu.

i'm not judging her range

but the inflections in the melodies indicate that Jeff actually sung those melodies as he composed them

instead of the other examples i mentioned, which sound like they were written in sheet music

Well he might have composed it on a piano still, while also possibly doing a demo with his voice stretching out the notes in some places. At any rate I'm so used to ONJs version (and the great production) that it's hard to imagine another.

Nah, I'm sure I meant Bowie. I listen to Iggy Pop, it's easy to hear the punk in him. I don't know, maybe I'm just imagining that I heard of several punk groups claiming Bowie as their biggest influence. Whatever. Thanks for the recs, anyway!
