Been thinking about this. I never understood music that wasn't uptempo and happy.
Until I heard Kansas' Dust in the Wind when I was twelve or thirteen. I think that actually made the difference for me.

That was awesome, me too! On topic, Tool's Lateralus very much do definitively started my journey in motion. I'm glad they are great enough that I don't mind going back to them, just a lot less than I figured I would. |

When I was in the 8th grade I discovered Rob Zombie's Hellbilly Deluxe, now that's an embarrassing introduction to the wonders of music if there ever was one. I would listen the entire CD on the way to school and on the way back and when I got home I would watch the Dragula music video endlessly on his website. I finally discovered his other records and played them around the clock for a whole year before finally discovering other things, namely Metallica and Rammstein.

Haha, hey Rammstein had a decent debut album if nothing else. I suppose I'd rather jig along with a Rob Zombie song then most of today's mainstream rock, but I think for the most part I've grown tired of his solo work (I mean I did listen to nothing but him for a year straight). I'm still digging White Zombie though, especially pre-La Sexorcisto.
