Well, I grew up with The Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones and Uriah Heep. My father really got me into music, and we shared cd-collection until I moved out.

The Smashing Pumpkins, for being one the very first bands to own an album of (brought myself). Have always loved them, I posted something about it in my journal if anyone wants to read (specifically 'Siamese Dream')... :D

for me it wasn't a band, it was a soundtrack. Stealing Beauty to be precise. i was a casual listener until i saw this movie. it introduced me to Hooverphonic, Portishead, Mazzy Star, Cocteau Twins,Axiom Funk, and other top bands that currently fill my library. From there it was a short step towards the likes of Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, Morcheeba, and other downtempo/trip hop stuff that i enjoy oh-so-much :D

It wasn't a band.

I've loved music for as long as I can remember. As a kid I'd tape stuff off the radio, copy my brother's albums, borrow stuff off mates etc. etc.
I thought my music collection was huge.
Then I went to uni.
I was lucky enough to end up living with two guys who were 'properly' into music. I mean, they had collections that dwarfed mine. I copied everything they had, and they introduced me to Napster. We'd take Zip disks into uni of an evening, spend 30mins to an hour filling them, then go back to the house and spend the next few hours listening. Not just to our own stuff, we'd listen to everything. We each liked different things too, so we got a pretty good range of stuff.
I miss those days!

Muse. They taught me that just because something wasn't popular it didn't make it good (even though Muse are popular, they aren't popular where i live)

I don't really remember what got me into music should I say.... but I can remember what made me stop and listen to music instead of treating it just as a soundtrack of my life.

BOB DYLAN

I cant say what got me listening to music.... Because I grew up with my parents music always moms (Country) and Dads (70's Rock) and all my own music I listened to in High School Nu-Metal and such but Bob Dylan made me go back and listen to everything in a whole new light.

Ac/Dc was the first band that actually got me listening to music but i would say that One by metallica was the first song that got me raging into music just devouring every song by them.
