I'm not sure exactly what this means, but my favourite track on the album so far is the instrumental.
My friend, who's a big fan of Ween, told me that that track in his opinion is the LEAST like the band.
I'm only half way through, though.
It's not something I can see myself listening to time and time again, but I think it's definitely a keeper.

It's true that the track is definitely not representative of their overall style (it would be hard to pick one that is, though) but I wouldn't say it's the only song in that style that they've done, either. You just can't say, "hey check out this song, you might like the band", that's for sure. It is lovely, I don't think being your favorite really means anything. It could be that you don't enjoy the humor as much, or that you just really like it because it's beautiful.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

that is one thing that really attracted me to ween...you can't listen to one song and get a feel for them. it has to be a whole album...or a couple albums to really know what they are about. i don't know any other band that can mix songs with a ridiculous sense of humor with songs that are actually quite serious and beautiful and have it play out so wonderfully.

Well said.

The latter, then.
I suppose it's not very often that I'm able to mix music and humor well.
It's not a bad album overall, though.

TO EVERYONE:

49.5 hours to submit your albums for this week.

RE: Ween

Obviously Chocolate & Cheese is an album I enjoy and have heard much before as I was the one who submitted it. The collection of varied songs makes it one of my favorite Ween albums and also might make it one of their most accessible. My favorite track is the song that got me into the band; Baby Bitch. It's just such a laid back song with language that balances out the pleasantness. Freedom of '76, Voodoo Lady, and Spinal Meningitis (Got Me Down) are also highlights. There's definitely some filler like Candi and The HIV Song and I never much cared for Drifter in The Dark but it doesn't take away from making C&C a great album.

Now remember everyone, send us your suggestions!

Still didn't listen to the C&C album completely, but I'm listening to it right now, and I couldn't wait any longer to post my reply.
I think I understand now Sidewinder's reaction when I said I never heard of them. I'm quite surprised myself actually. The album started to click with me after the first 4 tracks. I, at first, felt it was pleasant to hear, but not more. After Roses are Free, I felt there was a great potential in the album, it was the track that got me interested more in the band. Now listening to the songs that followed, Baby Bitch, Mister would you please ..., Drifter in the Dark, Voodoo Lady, ... I could only notice how good this band is. It feels so genuinely from the 90s, but still has this 60s light-heartedness. I dug all the genres they attempted to insert in their songs, from funk, 60s psych to some light harmonies and pop. I very much feel that's one of the albums I'll be giving a lot of repeated listens.

Great suggestion +81 .
... and only 24.5 hours left for the next album draw.

So the album for this week was picked. Weirdly enough, it was my suggested album, so we're a bit afraid it all seems a bit rigged. So as of now, we won't pick albums, we'll just re-suggest albums from past rounds.
