bob. sent me:
Depeche Mode - Some Great Reward I was really feeling this album. I loved the vocals and I loved sounds, I just loved the album in general. The song that made the biggest impression on me was: "Somebody." I think it was because it was so different from the rest of the album, The slower, quieter songs in a fairly fast-paced albums are the songs that are usually most noticeable so I'm sure you can understand why. For me, it's also really important when a band can do something that sounds a bit out of their element. [= I also really liked the feel of "It Doesn't Matter." The chord progression and vocals gave me the chills. The bands that came to my mind when I listen to this album were The Cure, The Killers, and Alkaline Trio. I know they're all pretty different and I know that Depeche Mode goes in a pretty different direction, but I think what made me think about them was the vocals and the feel moreso than the music itself. Overall, I really liked that album, bob., thank you for sending it to me. I'm going to listen to Garrison next. |

i'm glad you enjoyed it....it's by far my favorite album of theirs....and Somebody is sooo damn corny its beautiful....i can see your comparisons....The Cure and Depeche Mode practically go hand in hand with each other....and i'm sure that both Alkaline Trio and The Killers are big fans
