The only thing this list illustrates is that real independent music (not 'indie') is dead.

But it's a mainstream magazine...why would there by any real independent music on there, dead or alive?

That's besides the point really.
It's a music magazine,even the most mainstream ones cover independent music in some form or another.

If it can't get any exposure in a magazine dedicated to music it may well be dead.
