You make a good point sir. Somehow I had confused the issue and thought there were two seperate posts there. Can you tell its 6AM here?

I think it's the "best" or at least most essential album of the decade. Honestly, will it end up being my #1 favorite of the decade? Probably not...bias will come into play and I'd probably pick something that would seem ridiculous to anyone but me...but it's undeniable that Kid A is at least in the top 10 albums that defined the 2000s.

The White Stripes are 1, the other two close runners up.

Strapping Young Lad - The New Black

Certainly SYL's most accessible album to new fans, but it is so much more than that. It is a big fuck you to the music industry around them. It was a fuck you to Ozzfest, it was a fuck you to Century Media (Their record label), and most importantly it was a big fuck you to the New Wave of American Heavy Metal bands. I had just graduated high school when this album came out back in '06 and I managed to take the meanings of the songs and twist them to my own personal feelings. Everything about the album seemed to work for me, it was heavy enough to appease my cathartic tendencies, yet still retained the same melodic nature of Devin Townsend's solo work to do more than just act as a stress reliever. Perfect album for them to go out on.

Now keep in mind there are literally hundreds of albums on my hard drive from this decade so narrowing it down to just one is no easy task. I say The New Black is my favorite album of the decade this week but ask me the same question next week and I'll probably have a different answer with other reasons.

I haven't heard enough 2000s albums to have a really comprehensive view, but if there were any real milestones of the decade I'd think this would have to be one of them:

...Even if the band's name is completely ridiculous.

This album edges it out in front for me. This is the best album of the decade and one of the best albums i've ever heard. Words just can't describe how much passion and intensity this album has. I will never grow tired of this.
