Well, to reiterate, Alfred never actually listened to those albums, so I don't think it's fair to dismiss those albums. Sure, you could dismiss the band, but reserve your judgments on the album until you've heard the album at least. IMO.

Exactafuckingmundo. If you're not into indie music in general, there's really no reason for you to pay any attention to any critical acclaim a particular album within this genre garners. The fact that he went out of his way to diss those bands and proclaim he won't be listening to them made me think he does pay attention to indie but has been rather put off by the constant praise given to those bands/albums. Which means he's very impressionable. I mean, I'm not into rap/hip-hop, so you won't see me going around saying that fucking *insert big hip-hop name* can get stuffed as far as I'm concerned.

And no, of course no one would say outright that they dislike or think less of an album because they're critically acclaimed (that would be retaahded, durr), but you can infer as much from the constant need to go around saying how much this or that album is not actually as good as everyone says it is. You didn't think much of it? Fine and dandy, express your opinion and shut. the. fuck. up. The more you show your disdain, the more dishonest I think you're being...:\

You guys really just spent 10 pages arguing over fucking vekatimist?

Alfie: Don't make retarded, uninformed comments like that, or the indie kids get butthurt. C'mon dude, you're better than that.
Indie Kids: Don't get all butthurt just cause people have different opinions. And yes, Vekatimist was pretty average.
Mods: You guys ARE a bit biased on the popular albums. That's what makes this site great though. You guys bust people out of their comfort zones.

Fuck.

Also, although it took time to grow on me, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble's Here Be Dragons has ended up making quite the impression for this annual cycle. It smolders like a good joint, atmospheric without all the pointless noise, not too liberal with the vocal samples but littered with enough uncanny ambient touches to make you want to hear an entire track through without skipping. Top stuff!
