That's my exact sentiments toward Pallbearer.

I actually really enjoyed Heartless way more than I thought I would; haven't heard any of their other work so can't compare

Maybe because I'm not a very big fan at all of much of the doom metal I've heard and this album is kind of a 'lite' version

I'm a big pallbearer fan but I can totally see where the criticism is coming from. I don't find it boring I find it interesting, mainly on the lyrical side but still the instrumental passages are fantastic. Heartless is their worst imo. But it's still a great album.

I wish I could say the same, I've tried for way too long to try and like them as much as I want too. But I can't unfortunately.

Oddly enough, now that I check back, it's their debut I didn't think much of, while FoB had set me up for really liking them. Haven't heard their new one yet, but as you and others say, yeah: not memorable in any way. But I loved that other album.

They seemed to come out at a time in the early '00's where there was a lot of heavy psych/ doom metal and while I wouldn't call them bad by any means, they didn't really do much to stand out. TBF though, neither did many of the other popular artists in that genre like Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats or Blood Ceremony.

Spoiler for Big Cover:

Nukele - 50th State

This is easily the worst album thing I've heard this year. It's Ukulele music, death metal, and Pop Punk all combined into one. It was just plain awful.

That description sounds pretty dope to me.

That's what I thought when I saw the genre tags on RYM.

Genres: Folk Punk, Melodic Death Metal
Folk Pop, Pop Punk

But what I heard made me want to fucking kill myself.
