Can anybody tell me why Interpol's Turn on the Bright Lights is so acclaimed? I just don't get it. I thought it was kinda boring.

Most of that mid 2000s NME rock is. It's music as an accessory rather than art. That being said, I have no opinions on this band but I'm speaking more generally about the garage rock/post-punk revival movement. Even though I admittedly like some of it, it does tend to get boooring as hell sometimes.

I love the album, but I feel it's somewhat overrated. I would say probably because it was rather popular and people who have never heard anything like it took a strong liking to it. Same reason most decent music ends up with critical acclaim.

The garage rock/post-punk/dance-punk movement of the mid oughts was really big in the development of my early music appreciation years. And I follow NME everyday. So far you've said everything that pisses me off.
