I loved the hell out of it the first 5 or so times I listened to it. And I never got to the point that I started to dislike it, but I haven't played it in a long time. I scroll past it on my mp3 player frequently and always think "nah". It's kind of weird. I should just play it one of these days and see if I still really like it.

It's funny, I actually kind of enjoyed An Awesome Wave but somehow I lost the mp3 files in a transition from one linux distribution to another and never really bothered to replace them. I think Alt-J are the perfect Spotify band, something I would want to listen to, but not necessarily something I feel compelled to own.

Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights (2002)

Despite being quite into the whole post-punk revival during the early-mid part of the last decade, I never really listened to Interpol even though I was aware of them. As I started getting more into the '70's and '80's post punk, I decided it was past due to give this one a try after seeing it on so many "Best of '00's" list, but I'm sorry I just don't see it. I mean it's a good imitation of the bands that inspired them, but I just could not get into any of the songs. I felt the same way back in 2010 when I gave this a try for the first time, and again when I decided it was worth a second go. Three times and I just don't see the appeal of this album.

I've spent the best part of the last decade wondering why people would bother with a band as dull as Interpol.

I dunno, I just find the songs to be catchy and enjoyable. They went downhill after Turn On the Bright Lights, though. There are a few good songs on Antics and then I just can't stand any of their albums after that.

Yeah. Never got that album at all either. I prefer Antics actually. Not by much or anything.

When Interpol first hit the scene I wasn't interested in them at all. I probably only heard a flew clips from that album but it bored me. In the past few years I heard a song that I thought was pretty good. Earlier this year, I realized my girlfriend really likes Turns On the Bright Lights so I gave it a chance. I don't think it's great but I do enjoy it to an extent. I checked out Our Love to Admire and it turns out I like that one much better. Pretty much the same type of rock as Arctic Monkeys on that album, to my ears. Or at least, they satisfy similar needs.

I've always liked Turn On The Bright Lights. Not my favorite album by any means, or even my favorite of that style in that era, but still a decent album.

Tyler, the Creator—Wolf
Why do I keep doing this to myself? I've disliked everything I've ever heard from Odd Future, with the exception of parts of the Earl Sweatshirt album and a couple songs from Goblin, and yet I keep giving them more chances. This time it was because a co-worker told me how great this album is, and how it's such a departure from Tyler's previous albums. I guess it's a departure in the sense that it eschews the 10% quality level of Goblin in favor of 0%. He's basically taken the absolute worst muzak aspects of the last album and applied them a thousandfold to this one. The song "Tamale" is the only part of the album that's better than abysmal and that really isn't a compliment.

Puke.
