Deerhunter - Monomania While I can always respect a band trying new things, sometimes it doesn't alway work out. This is the case here. I definitely think they needed something new after their last 2 albums were so damn good...but clearly, they had no idea where to go from there. Their music always teetered on the edge of well thought out emotional melody and pure lethargy, so without that melodic side the result just sounds like they don't care. There are moments here and there and I'll give it a couple more spins to see if my opinion changes, but it's really not doing it for me.

Same here. Again, I'm glad they want to move on from that sound but something tells me they should just stick with it or pack it in.
