I've heard a lot but I'm certainly no expert. I remember Janszoon once said something like he had no reason to listen to Bowie since there's Tubeway Army and Gary Numan. I silently, wholeheartedly agreed. I can give him more chances but I think I've heard everything that I'm supposed to like and don't like any of it. Sorry, Bowie

Have you listened to 1.Outside? That's probably his best album in over 20 years and has a fractured almost industrial sound to it. Fantastic album.

Have not. I'm open to try it, though.

I think it was Urban that said that, not me. I like Bowie. Though I do have to admit I hardly ever listen to him.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I guess I'm alone in liking Young Americans a fair bit. To me, Bowie's more overrated albums are Hunky Dory and Ziggy. Both are great but don't touch Low, Aladdin Sane, Station to Station or Heroes. Most of his newer stuff is interesting too.

Young Americans is a great album, especially if you take into account some of the songs that got left off it (After Today, It's Gonna Be Me etc). Couldn't agree more that Ziggy's pretty overrated too - it's a good album, but the production makes it sound bit flat for my liking, and I only really listen to it for two or three songs these days. Could be because I've heard every song on it sound much better live though.

As for his later stuff, more people need to listen to the Buddha Of Suburbia soundtrack. Easily among his finest work for me.

I seem to remember saying something like all you need of Gary Numan is a greatest hits album.

There's no way in hell I'd choose him over Bowie.

Either that or anyone could just get Replicas instead - I think it's a pretty great album. I got a handful of his albums five-odd years ago as per a mate recommending them, and it's about the only one I've listened to more than once.

Don't worry guys, I would never tell Bowie what you really think of him. Anyway, who knows what I remember. My point was..

Duga said Bowie has something to offer everybody. For me - all I can think of that he can offer is synthy pop from the late 70s with a bit of a dark edge to it. And Numan already does that enough for me. I don't know, they both just sort of sound the same to me but I like Numan more (don't even listen to him much, either).
