One down, one to go although my 11 year old has been listening to Italian Pop songs for some reason. Here's hoping he's turning out to be as eclectic as his dad
He's 11... aside from the Eminem thing, we're working on it... I have tried to foster a love of Devin Townsend in him, starting with the Ziltoid album and I've since moved on... it seems to be working, he pretty much every DT album i play to him, so good taste is gaining traction in his collection... I agree with you though, steady coaxing into better music can pay off!

Well both of mine don't like metal much at all and I have given up on that but in all seriousness, all I want them to have is an open mind towards music whatever they listen to and seek out music irrespective of it's popularity and instead listen and love and that's what happened with my eldest which does make me proud.

I was playing a DJ Shadow track recently and he was so chuffed because he loves that track (Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt) but didn't know what it was called or who the artist was. Cool points for me

Off topic-apologies.

Well damn, that's probably my favourtie Fugazi album. It's so sharp yet carries a great groove.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to a Pretentiously Long Album Title

This definitely won't make me popular with people around here, but as I already only seem to evoke a minuscule amount of musical interest in the members here, fuck it.

This album is booooooooring. Just like every Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, and Mono album I have listened to. Sure it is well orchestrated music, but it sounds more like a soundtrack to a movie than an actual album. In fact while listening to Lift Your Skinny Fists... I actually forgot there was music going. If the listener actually forgets that music is playing then something has gone horribly wrong.

The album reminds me of garnish, it has its place, but you're not going to eat an entire plate of it. If this accompanied a video or something then perhaps I'd be more interested in it, but as it stands right now the album just doesn't have what it takes to keep me interested.

I love Jack White.

I loved the first Dead Weather album.

I've tried listening to their second album and keep getting about half way through before I get tired and put in something else. Nothing specifically wrong with it but it just isn't working for me at all.
