I was playing a DJ Shadow track recently and he was so chuffed because he loves that track (Building Steam With A Grain Of Salt) but didn't know what it was called or who the artist was. Cool points for me Off topic-apologies.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Lift Your Skinny Fists like Antennas to a Pretentiously Long Album Title This definitely won't make me popular with people around here, but as I already only seem to evoke a minuscule amount of musical interest in the members here, fuck it. This album is booooooooring. Just like every Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, This Will Destroy You, and Mono album I have listened to. Sure it is well orchestrated music, but it sounds more like a soundtrack to a movie than an actual album. In fact while listening to Lift Your Skinny Fists... I actually forgot there was music going. If the listener actually forgets that music is playing then something has gone horribly wrong. The album reminds me of garnish, it has its place, but you're not going to eat an entire plate of it. If this accompanied a video or something then perhaps I'd be more interested in it, but as it stands right now the album just doesn't have what it takes to keep me interested. |

I love Jack White.
I loved the first Dead Weather album. I've tried listening to their second album and keep getting about half way through before I get tired and put in something else. Nothing specifically wrong with it but it just isn't working for me at all.
