are you aware of how thin the grey line is when we get down to it. Alright so Shinedown and Eminem don't sound anything alike. What about Korn and Crazy Town? What about Cyprus Hill or the Beastie Boys? The RHCPs? Are the Talking Heads R&R? Vampire Weekend? Paul Simon and Bruce Springsteen? Rock and Roll has never been about guitars. Its about a revolution. When people scream rock and roll in a Detroit parking lot from the roof of their T-bird they don't give a **** about what chrod structure is going on.

Well, the line between rock and roll and rock is very vague, if it exists at all. Besides, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame sounds better than The Rock Hall of Fame. I'm not suggesting a narrow interpretation, but I think most can agree that ABBA and LL Cool J aren't rock and roll.

ABBA's probably being inducted because they're the best selling band of all time. I think KISS deserve to get in as well, they were/are gods to a lot of people. For the most part though, I don't really pay that much attention to the Hall of Fame myself because it's mostly music I don't enjoy all that much. Besides, if we're being honest here, having a bunch of musicians choose who belongs is a horrible way to do it. You'll end up with a hall of fame filled with bands like Dinosaur Jr, The Pixies, Pavement, Guided By Voices, and the likes. Don't get me wrong, that would be really cool, but I think Hall of Fame is something meant to appeal to the popular people; a band that's become not just famous but legendary and had a huge impact on popular music that lots of people listen to. Just my opinion though.

getting pissed off at a hall of fame is like getting pissed off at your dog for licking its balls, it's gonna happen whether you like it or not.
kind of nuts to see the chili peppers up there, really surprised Genesis and KISS aren't already in, especially in Genesis' case. |

I'm totally confused about this concept. From the little I read about it, at some point some millionaire decided to build a random Museum dedicated to rock and roll artists and ever since then there are random and much publicized "inductions" and it's some kind of important thing even though I don't understand why. Isn't it there primarily to generate profit? Isn't it as an idea really antiquated and kind of lame? Why am I reading today about Paul McCartney giving a tribute to Dave Grohl for his "induction". How much are these people getting paid for all this bullshit?
