The possibility of Comus cutting a new album this year after over three decades of absence is utterly beyond awesome, especially if the material is anything like this-

As am I.

But I'm mostly looking forward to Jet Lag - Josiah Wolf. Release date is March 5th and judging from the single it sounds promising. I'm also keeping an eye out for new Panda Bear and Jens Lekman albums. I've got to be honest though, looking through the list of albums set for release this year (so far), I'm not really expecting to be blown away by 2010.

Raust 02-22-2010 08:15 PM

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach & MGMT - Congratulations

Psy-Fi 02-22-2010 09:59 PM

The Roky Erickson album, "True Love Cast Out All Evil", to be released April 20th.

Morning Bell Amnesiac 02-25-2010 11:12 PM

Arcade Fire and the Strokes are albums I'm dying for.
Also new Gorillaz album and Tokyo Police Club album, May is too far away.

AlexThreeKsKeller 02-26-2010 09:22 PM

DZK's album, EMINEM's supposed "Relapse 2," and a new Avril Lavigne album.
Idk if it's coming out this year, but I need to hear a new one.

The Abracadaver 02-27-2010 07:26 AM

Already pre-ordered the new Gorillaz, so excited. Also, The Riot Before is coming out with a new full length as well as Off With Their Heads. Very very very excited.

scottsy 02-28-2010 09:41 AM

I mentioned this elsewhere already, but definitely looking forward to the new Peter Gabriel covers album "Scratch my Back"

Just found out about a new Lantlôs album. Now that Niege is the vocalist he is bringing his love of shoegaze and combining with depressive black metal, much like he did with Amesoeurs.

I definitely can't wait for the new Pain Of Salvation album - 'Road Salt'. A double album with one disc titled 'Ebony' and the other called 'Ivory'. Yet another concept album... :D

The same with me, I am really curious. But to be honest, my favourite album is still Remedy Lane :)

Now I am enjoying new album of czech folk singer Radůza, it's really fresh music, I had to buy it as soon as possible.

I can't wait to new album of Anathema that will be release on May 31.
And than on autumn new album of Lunatic Soul (singer of Riverside).

DiSTANToblivion 03-24-2010 11:55 AM

Anathema have a new album coming out?! Must buy it! :D

Also I'm the same, I think Remedy Lane is my favourite PoS album, though I still love The Perfect Element.

gogojessicat 03-24-2010 04:43 PM

I am super excited for The Hold Steady's new album, Heaven is Whenever. They say this one is supposed to be a bit more pop sounding, but I think I'm okay with that. As long as Craig Finn is singing I'm pretty much okay with whatever they do. I think its crazy that the single "Hurricane J" is about a girl named Jessie. feels like hes singing to me. The song is amazing. Check it out. And from the sounds of this song I don't think we have to worry about them changing much.
Can't wait for this one to come out!

On their web page you can read about this new album in part news - anathema - official website

Wolf Parade's new album. Apparently it's a double album+no overdubs and it's produced by Howard Bilerman.

SBWNik 03-29-2010 11:02 AM

New Amphetameanies one is due out at the back end of the year, that's going to be a long wait, and Dirty Revolution have finally cut all the tracks for their debut, due out in the next month or so. Thats next on my definate but list, though no doubt there will be a lot of casual purchases along the way.

Insane Guest 03-29-2010 11:31 AM

Iron Maiden's Final Frontier Album. It has been a while since they had an album out. Hopefully they will go back to sounding more like Classic Maiden (Number of the Beast + Piece Of Mind) rather than New Maiden(A Matter of Life and Death + Dance of Death), Don't get me wrong they are both great.

Hammock's new album Chasing After Shadows...Living with the Ghosts.

TravisBickle 04-02-2010 05:44 AM

New Burzum, Immolation, Temnozor and Nokturnal Mortum were the biggest ones for me so far and they've definitely delivered.

Still looking forward to releases from:
- Morbid Angel
- Iron Maiden
- Peste Noire
- Inquisition
- Sodom
- Stargazer
- Atheist
- Gorguts
- Lugubrum (?)
- Agalloch (?)

Yeah, anything that comes even close to the magic created on the first 7 records and I’ll be absolutely ecstatic, though if it can match the caliber of a BNW or DOD I’m sure I'll be a happy man as well.
‘The Legacy’ was a fairly epic way to close the album but I could never really get into A Matter… for some reason it just came across as a bit stale and uninspired sounding to me, especially by Maiden standards.

TravisBickle 04-02-2010 06:24 AM

Holy ****, can hardly believe I’ve forgotten the new Blood Axis coming out at the end of the month!!!! :banghead:
It’ll be the long awaited follow up to their first full-length album, “The Gospel of Inhumanity” an absolute milestone for ‘neofolk’/post-industrial music and an album that contains literature, samples etc. of everyone from Bach to Nietzsche to Ernst Jünger to Charles Manson.
These guys are definitely a powerful listen for anyone not afraid of something a little “different” in about every respect.
Have really been looking forward to this one, still can’t believe I forgot about it!

When is the Arcade Fire going to make anything new... they must be due for something this year.... and if this is so, I'd be greatly anticipating it!!!

Yup, there's definitely an album coming out this year. As far as i know it could be sometime during the summer. Hopefully it'll as good as Funeral and Neon Bible, fingers crossed.

Starting recording their album some time in 2010, cant wait to see what it will be liked. Do they still have that creativity and spark to make a brilliant album? I hope so :D

That'll be one of my most anticipated albums of this year then! I have absolutely fallen in love with Funeral and Neon Bible these past couple of weeks! I also hope they indeed csn produce something of the same quality!

mr dave 04-07-2010 05:49 PM

anyone have any kind of news on the supposed QOTSA disc for later this year? i'm not seeing much of anything yet on their main sites. according to myspace they'll be in Europe in august (bastards).

according to a youtube interview the plan is to re-release the first self-titled QOTSA disc sometime this year and to tour it playing only those songs (though that last bit could easily be a lark). either way i've been looking and waiting on getting a copy of that disc since about 2002 (which was the last time i saw it for sale $30 :( ) and hearing rumours of a re-release since about 2004. someday....

also, Monster Magnet apparently went into the studio earlier this year for an upcoming summer release. i'm most definitely looking forward to that one.

Amon Tobin should be due for another album soon-ish as well, but some of the comments he made around the time 'the foley room' came out have me wondering if he'll actually bother, but according to his site IT'S ON!!!! (since january 19 at that)
