Me too. The only album from some of my favourite artists which I was truly excited by was Sound Awake by Karnivool. Everything else seemed to be disappointments. Also, a lot of my favourite bands broke up this year, including Cog. Sad year.

Pelican -What We All Come To Need

This was actually the first release I heard from this band after Last.FM kept on recommending them to me. Finally I decided to give them a try and I wanted to kick my ass for not looking into them sooner. The album was very similar to Geneva by Russian Circles, however it had it's own unique sound to it that I have yet to really truly understand. Again, if you're into post-rock or post-metal then this is an album to try.
i just picked this up a couple days ago. upon first listen it's not bad, but not great and definitely not their best. check out australasia and the fire in our throats will beckon the thaw, dude. they're much more intense. "drought" off australasia is one of the best metal songs i've ever heard.
