if anybody can find a counterpoint list to this, the anti-NME list, please post it. I'm looking around and can't find anything particularly revelatory (if i could then i wouldn't have joined musicbanter)... Here is Pitchdork's list for comparison. It's... better. Won't be completely happy until I see an 'NO INDIE ROCK ALLOWED' list :P

IMO Yeah Yeah Yeahs have the right to be on there more than a lot of other bands that made the list. At the Drive-In definitely has the right to be there. Still, stupid closed minded list.

Terrible, terrible list. Even taking into account that some mainstream, successful albums will make lists like this, it's ridiculously one dimensional. Compiled with no major understanding or acceptance of anything slightly leftfield. The Streets? Give me a break.

No decent Hip Hop, Avant Garde, Metal, Prog at all. I have 11 of the albums and only 3 of them MIGHT get into my list- PJ Harvey, Radiohead and Arctic Monkeys. I appreciate that we all have different tastes but c'mon. Half of the albums on that list are considered out dated already. MB should start their own damn mag!

For an indie selection,Camera Obscura,The National,The Beta Band,Modest Mouse,Grizzly Bear are all glaring oversights.

I feel like Bright Eyes should be higher, at least higher than SUper Fury Animals and Blur. And Vampire Weekend should be off entirely.

Haha, or better yet, why not get people together here on MB who have been paying a lot of attention to specific genres this decade and compile a REAL Top 50 albums of the 00's?

Lists like this make me wish I had been listening to good music for the whole decade so I knew more stuff that was released and I could make a counter list. And it would be cool to even know what year all my music is from... I'm a lazy **** and I really need to fix all the tags on my music

Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, The Streets, Klaxons.

Oh dear.

A few good albums, some I've never heard of and so much shite.
