I would count old skool as stuff thats not been made in the past 10yrs I think. Just depends on the song really and what it's been influenced by. Some songs I have are really recent but sound old skool

Well,in a hip-hop context I'd say up till '00

But in a general music context pre=Beatles.

I think it really differs from genre to genre.

I see old school punk as 80's and 70's, but I don't think anyone would consider old school jazz 80's jazz.

I'd say everything from Gregorian Chant and onwards should be considered New Skool.

I agree it really depends on the genre.

And #9. I agree also with electronica,(the type I listen to) It only really started being made in the late 80's early 90's, so anything up until the yr 2000 I would definetly consider it Old Skool

if there is currently a post-X genre being discussed somewhere then the original X genre is old school.

hard question 2 answer! old school can refer to nearly every genre so i tink everyone has their own opinion on this and their opinion is influenced by the genre they listen to and the era they grew up in. for me old school is a lot of the stuff from late 80s to the late 90s (house, trance, dance), it kinda ended when the cheesy pop stuff started/boy bands/girl bands got popular etc.

R.I.P old school
