If you're interested there's a program called I-Doser and there's various "doses" which are binaural beats and they have ALL kinds. Some of them are extremely far fetched and don't believe they do anything at all.. although I haven't even bothered to try them. The ones like Insomniac that help you sleep and CalmME which, obviously, is for calming at least for me work very well. There's a plethora of drug related ones and couldn't tell you if they work.. I haven't tried them and never did drugs so I wouldn't know anyway.

but that's the fundamental key to understanding sound as a medium and not a canvas...people place music and musicians upon this unreachable pedestal, like the romantic notions of artistry and musical genius that pervade popular sentiment.

what John Cage sought to prove was that music was tied to the earth as much as any other form of communication, and even in the absence of elements like rhythm, melody, cadence and timbre it is still as justifiably "musical" as anything else.

Really? I only place musicians on a pedestal that deserve to be there because they are so much better than any of their peers and me... I guess some people lack creativity but I feel most people just have no confidence in their ability to make music or any art, or they never try. I know I do it with drawing, but I don't care.

Usually people that work with sound (not music) repeat this idea very often. I've read about that once, it's like when they say that ancient cultures believe that everything is made from energy (or is "frequency" in that matter), and that creation began from sound. (Usually they say, it's like in the Bible, when God said "Let there be light" ... It was with sound that creation was made).

I didn't continue that book than, tho I felt it was really interesting. Usually I just hear extracts from that book word by word, from my sound engineer teacher lol.
