I go into the Albums You're Digging 2 and everything which looks interesting I listen to a couple songs on youtube and add it to a list which is literally over 650 bands long. Last time I updated it online it was 569 bands, if you're really looking for new music I could send ya it but then you lose the fun part of looking!
Another thing I use is pandora... but that's mostly for background music. Rarely does it show me something I don't already know of. MB is really the best. Like Anteater's journal, Satchmo's 42 thread, Comus's 1000 list, I mean where isn't there new music on MB? |

I've recently been getting a lot of good stuff from hypem.com - a lot of remixes and free releases are brought together from different blogs.

I joined musicbanter basically because I wanted to discover more music. This place is a great resource of information and recommendations. It's a bit weird that it hasn't been mentioned more so far in this thread.
If you find any long-time members who you think you might have tastes comparable to, you could check out if they have a journal or if they've written some album reviews. When I first came here, my first two threads that I checked out were Boo Boo's Prog Stash and Comus Review Corner and I think I've checked out basically very nearly everything mentioned in those two threads because they have tastes comparable to my own and reviewed albums I thought sounded exciting. I like the journals because they tend to be a little more personal than just review threads, so I would say check them out. As a source of inpiration, it should last you a long time .. Oh, and don't forget editors pick.

This trick rarely fails me. I go to the Myspace pages of artists I like and look in their top friends. They usually have a few bands they like, are friends with or wish they sounded like in their Top Friends list. I've found a lot of great bands this way because they are associated in one way or another with bands I already listen to and like. Good luck!

Other than the things I mentioned on the page before, I've been really finding youtube helpful. I search some rare song that reflects my taste, and subscribe to the user that uploaded it. Usually, I would like the music that will get uploaded in the future.
