That's cool... Usually i try not to ignore anything in a song, but sometimes i'll listen to a song again and again just to observe one thing and then another, i'm an aspiring songwriter, i use that as a means of inspiration... Some things in a song i don't like i can get past, other things i cant... I'm not too discriminating with vocals (Smashing Pumpkins fan) but vocals i can't take are death metal vocals... Bands like Opeth are really good musically, but the cookie monster screams are a major destraction.
A lot of times when listening to music i just listen to the bass... I have iTunes on bass booster right now. Too bad my comp is a laptop, i need speakers dammit... Tired of having to wear headphones all the time just to hear the f*cking bass. Sorry, i'm ranting again, back on what we were talking about... Prog rules, STFU!!! |

I think pantera were god-awful. I can easily think of 100 better metal bands. Same goes for metallica.
Death Cab for Cutie is well...cute. I don't care how popular they get. With that being said, a lot of these mainstream "indie" bands are pretty generic and boring. |

System of a Down, not gonna lie, I like some of their stuff, but there should be a ban on the discussion of them.
I've heard some broken records but SOAD discussion takes the cake.

I don't want to discriminate it's just that of all the metal bands that are around... Theres about a little less or more than 30 metal bands who i can listen to without wanting to kill myself... And Pantera are one of those bands. But i guess they suck.... Every metalhead i know seems to think that, but these people get their enjoyment from music that i'm incapable of listening to without breaking into tears because of how painful it is to my ears. I like Pantera because i think they had a lot of great riffs in them... Walk was a cool little anthem... Cowboys From Hell and Vulgar Display Of Power are as far as i'm concerned, the only metal albums from the 90s that truly kicks ass... Plus their songs aren't all 8 minutes of cookie monster screams and re-used rhyhtms in the key of E. |

Garage rock music is stronger now than it ever was in the '60s. Bands such as The Dirtbombs, Anihilation Time, Reatards, Black Lips, The Deadley Snakes etc etc etc are kicking my ass in ways I never though possible in the 2000s.

The bands you mentioned are pretty much the kind i don't care for.
I downloaded a Mayhem album once, only to delete it.... Metal Machine Music was more melodic. |
