* not every song is about heroin
* hip hop IS music, contrary to the belief of (always) some moronic prepubescent metalhead who judges music by its level of distortion and number of notes played per second rather than style and creativity
* Just because Kurt cobain blew his brains out doesn't make him enigmatic or a genius

Well let it all out here , post any of your opinions that may be consdered 'against the grain' here , be controversial , be bold , don`t let people tell you your opinion is wrong. Stick to your guns & don`t be afraid to rustle a few feathers.

A few of mine that i`ve been shouted at about.....

Pet Sounds is nowhere near the greatest album ever recorded , and apart from Good Vibrations & God Only Knows I have no time for the Beach Boys whatsoever.

Same goes for Sgt Pepper & the Beatles

Around 95% of Bob Dylan`s output is boring rubbish

Pink Floyd have not made anything worth listening to since 1977

Can were better than Pink Floyd anyway

Led Zeppelin are ok for a fun blues based c0ck rock band , but to suggest they`re one of the greatest bands ever is laughable.

The Fall have more talent & creativity than every single american punk band put together.

Nobody gave a crap about Elliot Smith & Jeff Buckley till they kicked the bucket

Note to American indie bands ...Ripping of The Cure , The Smiths , Joy Division , Echo & The Bunnymen & Gang Of Four does not make you 'alternative'

The current crop of British guitar bands ( Futureheads , Razorlight , Libertines , Delays , Bloc Party , Art Brut , 20 20s ) are boring generic crap

Elton John has never contributed anything to music & that includes ****ing Tiny Dancer

Classic rock fans make me want to throw up , really we`ve heard for the last 30 to 40 years how great ledzepbeatlespinkfloydhendrixmorissonectectect are , we don`t really need to hear it AGAIN.

As does anyone who claims to be 'punk rock'

There is no excuse in the world for owning the Stereophonics last album

Billy Corgan should have retired in 1993

American music scene of the last 20 years ...grunge & emo , surely you can do better than that. And while your at it can you stop buying Pearl Jam albums , you just encourage them to make more.
so what are you a fan of?

i`m not a fan of anyone. I take each record as it comes.

If I think it`s crap i`ll say it`s crap , if I think it`s good i`ll say it`s good.

I`m not wasting £8 - £12 on an album just to kiss some bands ass if it`s a heap of crap.

Axl Rose should die a terrible death.

velvet revolver (or 3/5) should put away the guitars and just feast upon the success (a lot of it undeserved) they had in the 80s.

metallica should of retired years ago

i hope justin hawkins chokes on his hair.

dont mind greenday, but they are so incredibly overrated.

pulp are the most pointless band ever to grace earth. (their success is based upon one ok song and another **** song)

i despise pop-rock (blink 182, gc, bowling for soup etc).

the doors were overrated.

i hate people who dismiss music without listening to it. i actually have a freind who wouldnt listen to an album because the front cover looked "cheap" and another who labelled a band as "satanic" just from the front cover. (twas the distillers btw).

there you go, theres my controversy.

I hate that. I know people who wont listen to certain bands cause they dont like their name, or dont like the name of one of their songs, or like you said, they dont like the album cover. I hate that so much.

To be fair if some all some metal band can think of to put on their cover is some demon of somesort & have a metallic spiky logo with their name in it , I don`t hold out much hope of the music being original either.

yeah this was way back in the thread I know, but I thought I'd bring up a point. Musical creativity and artistic creativity are two seperate things. Many bands don't have the money needed to hire a graphic designer to make inspired and original designs for their album covers. So in compromise, they get together, design something that they think looks cool, and otherwise have no clue how to convey an original and unique message visually. A lot of my friends are extremely talented lyricists and musicians, but ask them to convey the same messages or feelings they do in their music in a visual form and they'll be utterly lost.

Yeah but you don`t need money to be creative.

Look at the first Stone Roses album cover , a load of paint splattered around with a few orange slices for good measure.Totally original & something you`ll not likely forget ,done really cheaply.

The point i`m making is if you are in a band why would you make your album cover look exactly the same as a million other run of the mill bands.
