Everyone should boycott the 4 major record labels
DJ Shadow should be a millionaire
There are no original R & B groups left

What would that solve? You'd just get 4 more labels to replace them..

Island are owned by one of them.. EMI i think, labels like that (as well as Rough Trade, Sub Pop, Roadrunner etc) cant really be considered as independant as they are subsidiaries of the big 4. i put a list up somewhere..

Yeah, everyone should boycott those fucking labels and let all the good musicians that happen to be on em get shitted. Good idea. Indie Label doesn't not equal good music nor does Major label equal bad music. Label is completely irrelevant. I mean because I have my preferences of labels but they still have horrible bands on em.

the bands wont get in trouble as most get a lump sum when they sign the contract.

its not about good bands and bad bands.. its about the fact that an industry which is about expression and passion is almost completely owned by 4 corporate giants who only care about how much money each band is going to make them. its just not right.
