Grunge = Punk.

I lot of Grunge is basically just hardcore punk with flannel shirts.

I've had so many arguments with people who like to say 'Nirvana aren't Punk, they are Grunge.' Grunge is to Punk what Grime is to Rap. Very different but also very similar. And Nirvana doesn't fit into the Grunge category. THEY ARE PUNK I TELL YA!

Well grunge is a little different from most punk, you're right... More classic rock influence, etc.... But it's more of a movement than a genre anyway, and Nirvana certainly played a very big part in the latter movement, as well as breaking it into the mainstream.. But thats what led to Grunges downfall.

If it remained underground it would likely still be around today... But people who are gonna bash the hell out of Nirvana for that sole reason are idiots, as are people who bash Nirvana for popularizing Grunge in the first place... Bands get popular, it happens, they have no controll over it.... Listen up kiddies, you may not like the fact that Nirvana were one of the most popular bands in the 90s, but they just were, media played a part sure, but a lot of people just loved their music, which if you're a indie kid, makes them BAD obviously, now you can resume to listening to your Bright Eyes records but first stop comparing Kurt Cobain to Hitler, it's getting old.

Nirvana are Punk. Not grunge.
David Bowie has inspired, in some way, EVERYONE IN THE WORLD.
Rap is good. Look past 50 Cent, naysayers.
Emo is a trend, not a music category.
That is pretty stupid, considering emo, which is a distinc genre of music has been in existence for 20+ years.

the Eels are easily one of the greatest bands in the world, and everyone everywhere should at the least know of them.

This was a place where you can speak your mind without getting flamed. Let some air out of your heads and for once just accept what other people are saying without questioning it, as there isn't much point for you to be posting in this thread if you wish to do otherwise.

It`ll be called 'classic rock' then and then when anyone tries to call it emo you`ll get 15 year old kids saying it`s not because 'it`s moved on from then'
