No. I agree with that if you have a certain song that you just can't play live either work it up to the point where it's decent or leave it out. Your whole set shouldn't be crap though.

1. The White Stripes have a fraction of the talent that the Black Keys do, and the keys are not a Stripes rip-off, they got signed about the same time. Though the Raconteurs is an improvement, maybe because Brendan Benson can actually cary a tune and write something that doesn't suck
2. Pink Floyd is boring, there, I said it. And yes, I'm old enough to have heard all those songs on classic rock radio, and I've tried to listen to DSOTM at least 5 times all the way through , still boring 3. Lynyrd Skynrd is super annoying. But the Drive By Truckers rule 4. Most emo bands rip off the Smiths, yet have probably never really listened to them. Oh, and emo fans who whine "that Morrissey dude is so queer", you should look at your favorite bands, they wear 10 times more make-up than Morrissey ever did, and have probably slept with way more dudes. 5. After OK Computer, which is overrated, Radiohead has sucked 6. The Beatles throwaway songs are better than the Beach Boys best songs 7. The Beatles could rock like the stones when they wanted(Revolution, Helter Skelter, Lennon's Cold Turkey) but the Stones could never be creative like the beatles. 7. The biggest shame in rock is how Power Pop has been almost totally ignored for the longest time 8. Hair Metal is fun, at least it has more humor than the garbage rap-rock or Nickelback crap. And the Darkness is fun too, not everything has to be so damn serious all the time. there, now everyone can yell at me for a while

I would have thought Joy Division would be a better starting point than the Smiths given that emo bands like Fall Out Boy cover them.
