We always got that when I worked at HMV. Within two hours of Elliott Smith's death being announced every store was sent an email telling them to buy in additional stock, and sure enough, it sold.

And, strange but true, in the week surrounding an anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death, there is ALWAYS an increase in sales of Nirvana.

I heard a story (it must be fake but the message is there of minimal reference to this thread) that Tupac faked his own death so he could make double what he was already making and hes living under a different name etc somewhere making loads more money because of his boost of record sales because of his death etc.....thats about it really..... oh well i tried.

^ yeah there's a huge conspiracy theory behind tupac's death, a ton of people think he's still alive, it's actually a pretty in depth story, and I don't know nearly enough about it to actually discuss it. Having said all that I think it's utter bulls*it, it's the same thing as people insisting that elvis is still alive.
