Default Parents and kid's music

Not sure everyone's age ranges here, but I'm a parent and getting close to 40. Just curious how many parents out there enjoy the same music as their kids. I personally do!

I mean I listen to all sorts of music, but it didn't stop with my generation.. Not that I crave Rap or anything, but there are several Rap songs I like that my son has introduced me to. I work out to Chamillionaire. I love TI.. Even enjoy ICP.

Am I weird or are there others out there like me?

I think you're pretty much alone here.

I'm not sure ICP are really "young people's" music or whatever anyway. Both those guys are in their mid to late 30s. Maybe it's more that your kids are listening to your music than you are listening to theirs.

haha! my mom's like that, she used to work late nights and it just sort of grew on her (because the radio plays the best music when everyone's in bed)

there's nothing wrong with an overlap in tastes. although personally i find it rather cringe worthy when an obviously middle aged person is trying to front on the 'cool' stuff the teenagers are listening to today, and missing the mark horribly (as in the case with ICP).

My daddy steals my CDs all of the time. xD

He takes me to concerts and everything too, I love him.

I gave my mom "The Velvet Underground & Nico", "Village Green Preservation Society" and "Loveless" in hopes that I could steer her away from today's tripe that kids are into. It's weird really, a parent should be doing the exact opposite.
