Most good Canadian alt-rock bands didn't put out 3 albums!

Anyways I think this song sums me up pretty well

I Can't Dance - Genesis

Sums me up just nicely... because, well, I can't dance...

I was listening to some Tracy Bonham songs tonight, because she was one of my brother's favorite musicians in the 1990's, when I realized that her song "Mother Mother" does a pretty good job of describing how I felt sometimes when I was 18 to 19 years old. "Everything's fine." Heh heh.

Tracy Bonham - Mother Mother

Here's another one that I relate to quite a bit--really, this could be about me, such as what it was like when I finally decided to stop shaving or trying to look appealing when I didn't want to, come what may.

And I like that the song is about stopping having sex with people just because they want it. Also, I simply think it's a great song! It encourages women to be who they are and not suck up to anybody to try to avoid conflict. And I love the sound of it.

This morning is the first time I heard this song, and I'm glad I did, because I relate to it quite a bit. "Love that lets me be as human as can be. I don't have to fake it." That's all I ever really wanted in a relationship...and it's surprising how hard it is to find people who just let you be how you are.

Tracy Bonham - Fake it

YES I AM DEEP. Normally, I wouldn't feel so attached to such a sad song, but some of these lyrics seem to describe aspects of my life so well that I can't help it. Somebody who I greatly care for always talks about moving away to London, and I can never quite convince her not to. Just little things like that scattered ALL OVER this song...

There are a giant load of Smashing Pumpkins songs that sound like they are about me. Every time I went through something new, there was an SP song to sum up my feelings. I guess that's why they are my favorite band. A lot of stuff off Adore I have related to recently.

Heh Heh, VB, I'm sure it does!

My mom and I used to love to sing that song together when I was little and she'd play the piano, topped with quivering geraniums. That and "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." Classics!

Clutnuckle, that's a lovely, lovely song! I listened to all 8:23 minutes of it. I love it. My god, that man has perhaps the most beautiful male voice I've heard in a long time. And I love the minor notes thrown in here and there to give the song a somber, off-kilter, melancholy feeling.

I've never heard of Red House Painters before, but now I'm going to check out more of their music, thanks to your post.

Have you played this song for that person in your life? I know I'd think twice about leaving if someone felt that strongly about me! Of course, maybe you could go to London if her heart is dead-set on it!

Male men? Are there other kinds of men?

Glad you like it! And yeah, I share most of these things with her, as the amount of caring between us is pretty much mutual. I doubt I can particularly change her mind, but I'll have to grow to respect it or something.
