What lame choices.

My pick goes to Elvis Costello, singing a song he wrote with Paul McCartney at the memorial concert for Linda McCartney. It's called "That Day is Done."

I don't like many of those artists that were mentioned, sure I have respect for them but nothing I would choose to listen to but it's not like i'd cover my ears if one of those songs came on.

But I think this performance should be considered;

there is a performance by janis joplin that should be at No. 3.

Cry baby at the Toronto Music Festival in 1970, just before she died. Search on youtube.

Although, Ball and Chain (Monterrey, 1967) may be even better. Check out Mama Cass at the end of Janis's performance in awe of the queen:
