Fastest way to determine key of song if notes are already known
I create a melody by ear, then build off of it.
Currently, I know what notes are in the melody. To find what key it's in, I start looking at all reasonable scales with the same kind notes. If my notes contain, G, F#, A, B, and Qb, I'll begin by looking at all scales that have G, then all that have G and F#, then all that have G, F#, and A. This usually works just fine and ends up giving me what key the melody is in. Is there any kind of website where I can just start punching in notes and it will narrow them down faster? That would be really ideal...just punch in what notes I'm using and it tells me the scale. Or if there's a faster way (I'm probably overlooking something), I'm open to suggestions. --MALON |
