Wow the National, The Hold Steady, Elliott Smith and Regina Spektor all on the same shuffle, that is a great one.

Cursive- Bad Sects
Get Well Soon- Werner Herzog Gets Shot
Fiona Apple- Not About Love
Pavement- Folk Jam
Bowerbirds- In Our Talons
The National- Friend Of Mine
The Drums- Me and the Moon
ZibraZibra- Creepshow
Shelby Sifers- Just Inches
Nurses- Hungry Mouth

Like the shuffle above me The National came in a close second.

Good from what I know. That being Pavement, Fiona Apple and the National.

Super Furry Animals- Torra Fy Ngwallt Yn Hir
Elvis Costello- (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding (Live)
Frank Zappa- Any Way the Wind Blows
Elvis Costello & the Attractions- Tears Before Bedtime
DJ Shadow- Why Hip Hop Sucks In '96
The Beatles- Think for Yourself
Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds- Henry Lee
Joy Division- Komakino
Jonathan Coulton- The Future Soon (Demo)
Elvis Costello- Georgie And Her Rival

three elvis costello songs... again. At least they're all ones I like a lot.

My ipod is probably a bad sample size, really rather narrow, because I only put music on it that I have purchased.

Ain't nothin bad on that list. I'm most pleased to see Jonathan Coulton, though. And that Nick Cave album is actually the first one I ever heard.

Vetiver - Strictly Rule
Kate Nash - Kiss That Grrrl
Brad Paisley - I'll Take You Back
Mickey Newbury - She Even Woke Me Up to Say Goodbye
Chris Whitley - Dirt Floor
Quasi - Nothing from Nothing
Blitzen Trapper - Sadie
Slim Cessna's Auto Club - Children of the Lord
Tall Dwarfs - Walking Home
The Smiths - Unhappy Birthday

Man, I dunno... that was not an easy favorite to pick, partially cos a lot of those are really different (even though there's a strong country thread running through that sampling). But I really like Chris Whitley and consider him quite underrated, so there it is.

I actually kinda like Elvis Costello, particularly "Peace, Love, And Understanding". And who doesn't like Zappa?

Winds - Under The Stars
Powerman 5000 - Time Bomb, Baby
Behemoth - The Seed Ov I
Powerman 5000 - Intelligent Creatures
The Devin Townsend Project - Addicted!
Korn - Bottled Up Inside
The Agonist - The Sentient
Pantera - A New Level
Lamb Of God - Now You've Got Something To Die For
Otep - Breed

Now that's a good mix.

Yeah I really like Jonathan Coulton. I even saw him live and it was pretty awesome. Just wish I'd stayed and talked to him/maybe gotten an autograph.

Oh ****, just realized I skipped you NBP! I'm sorry. I don't know most of that stuff, but I like what I've heard from The Smiths and I know that Kate Nash song 'cause my ex used to listen to her all the time.

I hate Linkin Park more than New Labour, but you just said you liked Elvis Costello, so you're alright in my books ;) Changing Of the Guards is a class song as well.

The Kinks - Party Line
Nat King Cole - Almost Like Being In Love
Johnny Cash - Rose Of My Heart
New Model Army - Orange Tree Roots
The Fall - Hot Cake
Elvis Costello - Gloomy Sunday
David Bowie - Velvet Goldmine

2. I don't care for Linkin Park either, someone mailed me this song 'cos they liked it.
3. Indeed, Changing Of The Guards is a mighty fine song.
4. I share my birthday with Emmylou :pssst:
5. (No great shakes, so do millions of others!)
6. I would have to pick THE FALL from your list, although I'm not familiar with that track, they are one of my fave bands...
