It's usually quite easy to tell by the file size if a torrent contains a virus or some other unwanted bug. If you're downloading a 558MB file for a simple mp3 album, then something might be up. Other things are handy to indicate if it's an infected file, such as number of seeds, rating, comments etc.
Those aren't torrents...they're rar files.
The chances of them containing viruses are pretty remote if you take a few precautions.
Only download the files that are quite old and have more hits.
Use firefox cos that'll do a scan of it's own.
Send the file to your desktop then right click the file and do a quick scan using anti virus. Open the rar onto your desktop and do another scan...if all that hasn't done the trick, nothing will.

Oh I didn't realise the poster wanted .rar files In that case, right-track is probably more knowledgeable.

Still, torrents are quite handy for rarer finds. There are lots of private websites that offer things you won't be able to find anywhere else.
