To Jackhammer: Bulldog successfully guessed mine a few pages back, it was Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution, just so people stop including me in their guesses.
I'm still curious as to who contributed the Devin Townsend track! Besides myself, Antonio, and what's his face, I don't know anyone on the MB that listens to him. |

Due to a reduced inbox another MOD will (hopefully) have to take over the monthly comps from now.

So before we start off the next comp, here are my final thoughts on this comp.
Eight Frozen Modules - The vocals are pretty odd with this one, but I quite like it. Pop Group - Like a lot of post punk I found this a little pretentious, but that obviously isn't so much of a bad thing for me, it has a great funky beat and a spacey vibe to it, I really like this one. KMFDM - Eh, I'm not an industrial fan and I can't say this converted me, but aside from the really stupid lyrics, this ain't bad. I loved the bluegrass style intro. The Brogues - I already had this one from the Nuggets compilation, if you all recall I submitted a Nuggets track before. This is not one of the first songs I would have picked but it's a good one, nice groovy bassline. Devin Townshend - I'm not a fan of this guy's metal stuff, but this really surprised me. Very Pink Floyd-ish, one of the best songs on the comp IMO. She & Him - Heh, shouldn't this be on a Verizon commercial or something? Zooey is hot as f*ck, but this is just that same ol' indie pop. I would say this is Ethan, but then again this might be a bit too raucious for his taste. Sisters of Mercy - Pretty good, if a bit repetitive. Frost* - Yet another prog band I need to check out, thanks again Ant. Los Lobos - Great rootsy rock, always nice to have someone to submit something completely different and unexpected. El Ten Eleven - Doesn't blow me away like the best post rock but really good. Dead Can Dance - Wow, I really love this one, great dark folksy sound. This might be my favorite on the comp. Ali Farka Touré - Awesome, another high point. Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution - I really like this one, interesting mix of folk and ska. Buffalo Killers - Ok, not much on the original side, but this is fantastic, this could have easly been a 70s hard rock gem. The vocals remind me a lot of Bon Scott. Gong - I sent this one, couldn't you tell? Gotye - I dig this, I always love the production in dub music, great bass. |
