Great bands from the 60s (who aren't The Beatles)
Allowing them to be mentioned in this thread would be fair 'cause, you know, they're the greatest band of all time. Anyway, what are you other favorites from the 60s? Lately I've been digging the Zombies. Odessey and Oracle may just be better than a couple Beatles albums. Of course The Mothers of Invention, The Monks, Love. Lots of great jazz from that time period as well, Charles Mingus, Coltrane.
So what are your favorites? |

The Stooges, MC5, and 13th Floor Elevators are three of my favourite groups from the '60's. The book "Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk" went into a great deal of depth on both The Stooges and MC5 which was really cool, however because of that, they really skimmed over the '80's American Hardcore scene and the '90's underground scene which really did the genre a disservice.
