Default Sarah Mclaughlin

So I have been kind of put out of the music scene since i guess around 2001 simply because since that year i have only very rarely heard anything halfway decent on the radio.
As you can see my by post title i like that artist, and would be pleased if someone could give me a heads up on current or past artists in america or abroad that have the same kind of powerful voice or good lyrics as Sarah.
Some other artists i have liked:
Lorenna mckennith
Charlotte church
Garbage
Vanessa williams
Celine dion
no doubt
the tuesdays
the cranberries
sinead oconnor
tatu
jewel
So as you can see....i dont like male artists in general. By the way, ive always wondered what my musical tastes could be considered genre wise - i never really got how people decided what a kind of music belonged into.

There's a lot of bands out there.

Mazzy Star, Portishead, Cowboy Junkies (ooohhhh Cowboy Junkies). A good way to find new music based on artists you like would be to try out Pandora and put in the bands that you already enjoy. It expanded my horizons a hell of a lot.

imeem is also good and Amazon.com. They have a lot of "People who liked this also bought this".
I have quite a few ways of finding new music. It's a passion of mine.

Absolutely agree on Mazzy Star and particularly the Cowboy Junkies. Two of my favorite bands ever.

You'd probably also enjoy 10,000 Maniacs, Tori Amos, and Imogen Heap.

I'd also suggest checking out Kate Bush, Ladytron, Lamb, and Serafina Steer.
