One was an obscure 70s s/t debut album by a band called Parasites of the Western World. I have found it free online but it's only a really crappy scratchy vinyl rip.

The other was a Henry Rollins spoken word album which you could probably easily find now but it had just come out when I wanted it & was available on his website fairly cheap.

Haha, I know I'm evil when I say this, but I can't help but think;
Somebody must have bought it before you bought it... Sharing is caring!

I don't think it hurts to pay for a couple of the few thousand I download a year.

Wouldn't want people thinking I'm a tightwad.

Hahaha, allright then.
I think it's safe to say that I have sponsored the music industry an awful lot more than most people have. I don't feel guilty at all.

Do you have a record company to take away your money?
Because as far as I know 'famous' musicians with a label won't get a noticable amount of money for either downloads or CD's (or, in my case, vinyl records)

I personally prefer to physically own an album rather than to have it on an ipod or something. The only reason i do download some albums is because of the price, as well as convenience (some albums are hard to come buy in stores these days, or it takes an hour drive).

And if by download you mean illegally? I only do that if i don't respect the artist much, if i only like a single song on an album, or if they are dead (or if i don't have the money at the time). I like to respect the fact that music is how they make their living, and sales of their songs is part of it.

I don't understand why people would buy too much music anymore considering all the great free options there are to listen to free music online! I personally prefer Pandora but I recently came across this site that lists quite a few good ones, check it out: 10 Places to Listen to Free Music Online | Webupon

I mainly use youtube, grooveshark and myspace.
Reasons I buy music are
1. I want it myself. When they take the site down, it's gone.
2. Sound quality
3. I like collecting stuff :D

if something's really good I still prefer to physically own it. I mainly download stuff by artists I'm going to see live....
